Game Recap: Soccer |

Fast Start from Ursinus Stalls Bryn Mawr’s Momentum

BRYN MAWR, PA- The Bryn Mawr soccer team returned to Applebee Field on Wednesday afternoon for a Centennial Conference matchup against the Bears of Ursinus College. Despite a strong second-half effort from the Owls, an early Ursinus surge proved too much to overcome, as Bryn Mawr fell 4-0 at home.

Highlights:
  • Ursinus wasted little time getting on the board, finding the back of the net just over two minutes into play to grab a quick 1-0 lead. The Owls responded with a series of offensive looks in the following minutes — Isie Poff tested the Ursinus keeper with a shot on frame in the fifth minute, while Ciara Lalor fired just wide moments later. Bryn Mawr continued to press, earning a corner in the 12th minute that set up a header from Lanie Thompson, but the attempt sailed high.
  • Ursinus doubled its lead in the 13th minute and continued to build pressure before tacking on two more goals midway through the half. The Owls stayed composed, pushing forward with opportunities from Beatriz da Silva, who tallied multiple shots including a dangerous look from distance late in the first half.
  • After halftime, Bryn Mawr's backline locked in to slow the Bears' attack. Lily Blackman came up with key stops in the 48th and 64th minutes, while defenders Hailey Ferrier, Lanie Thompson, and Alexandra Morales helped keep the Bears off the scoreboard for the remainder of the match.
  • Ciara Lalor nearly converted off a through ball in the 57th minute, and da Silva forced another save in the closing moments.
The Owls return to the pitch on Saturday, October 18th at 2:00 PM EST against Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA. Tune into the game live on gobrynmawr.com and follow @bmcathletics on social media to stay up to date with your favorite Bryn Mawr teams!
