Owls Show Fight but Fall to Moravian in Straight Sets

BRYN MAWR, PA. – Bryn Mawr returned to the Class of 1958 Gymnasium on Wednesday night, squaring off against a strong Moravian squad. The Owls showed grit and flashes of strong play, but the Greyhounds' steady offense carried the night in a 3-0 decision (25-10, 25-16, 25-16).
Highlights:
  • Moravian jumped out quickly in the opener, using a balanced attack and four service aces to build momentum. Bryn Mawr's front line answered with four early kills and a team-high four blocks in the set, highlighted by strong net play from Elise Perry and Tula Reihman, but the Greyhounds pulled away late to take the frame, 25-10.
  • The second set saw the Owls push back. Bryn Mawr tied the score twice and leaned on outside hitter Emma Loller, who notched three kills in the set, and setter Anna Dravk, who kept the offense moving with crisp passing. Despite their best run, Moravian's 11 kills proved too much as the Greyhounds held on for a 25-16 win.
  • Bryn Mawr continued to fight in the third, with Loller again powering the attack alongside Charlotte Mullen's setting. Reihman contributed at the net with a pair of key blocks, while Julia Zimmerman-Boyer added efficient swings from the middle. The Owls tallied nine kills in the frame, but Moravian closed out the match with another late surge to secure the sweep, 25-16.
  • Loller led the Owls with eight kills and seven digs on the night, while Dravk paced the team with eight assists. Reihman was a force at the net, finishing with three kills and two solo blocks. Defensively, Saya Feldman anchored the back row with six digs.
Bryn Mawr starts their Centennial Conference play on Saturday, October 4th at 1:00 PM EST against #3 Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD. Tune into the game live on gobrynmawr.com and follow @bmcathletics on social media to stay up to date with your favorite Bryn Mawr teams!
