Bryn Mawr Shows Grit in Tough Loss to Haverford

HAVERFORD, PA - The Bryn Mawr Owls faced a tough challenge against the Haverford Fords on Saturday, ultimately falling 64-42 in a Centennial Conference matchup. Despite a strong effort on the boards and key contributions from players like Hannah Mack, turnovers and shooting struggles proved to be the difference.

Highlights
  • Bryn Mawr trailed narrowly in the opening quarter, 14-12, after 10 minutes of play. Mack led the charge with a layup and a three-pointer, while Daphne Bracker Sturm anchored the defense with a block and multiple rebounds. The Owls grabbed 10 total rebounds in the quarter and scored six points in the paint.
  • In the second, Haverford outscored Bryn Mawr 21-13 to extend their lead. While Bryn Mawr added four bench points and another six points in the paint, turnovers were costly and resulted in four points for Haverford.
  • The Owls faced their toughest stretch in the third quarter and scored only five points. Mack managed a layup and a free throw, but the team struggled with turnovers. Haverford capitalized with 11 points off turnovers and controlled the pace.
  • Bryn Mawr fought hard in the final stanza and matched their first-quarter effort with 12 points. Hannah Binder and Mack led the scoring, while Bracker Sturm contributed defensively. The Owls dominated second chance opportunities, and added four points from offensive rebounds.
The Owls travel to Chestertown, MD on Wednesday, January 15th for a conference game at Washington College at 8:00 PM EST. Tune in to the game live on gobrynmawr.com and follow @bmcathletics on social media to stay up to date with your favorite Bryn Mawr teams.
