Bryn Mawr Battles Hard in Road Loss to Washington College

CHESTERTOWN, MD. – The Bryn Mawr basketball team fought Wednesday night in a tough Centennial Conference road matchup against Washington College. Despite their effort, the Owls fell, 60-41, to the Shorewomen in the Frank C. Russell Gymnasium.

Highlights:

  • The Owls started with energy, igniting with a three-pointer from Hannah Mack early on. Bryn Mawr kept pace thanks to Mack's early scoring and Daphne Bracker Sturm's effort on the boards. Mack tallied five steals and cashed in 20 points to match her career high.

  • In the second quarter, Sena Kaper-Dale contributed key points to keep the Owls within striking distance. She racked up six points and six rebounds off the bench for Bryn Mawr. At halftime, Bryn Mawr trailed, 36–19.

  • The Owls outscored the Shorewomen 13-8, in the third quarter, with Mack continuing to shine on offense. Bracker Sturm added a second-chance bucket, and the Bryn Mawr defense tightened, limiting Washington College to eight points in the quarter. Bracker Sturm chipped in six points, nine rebounds and a block for Bryn Mawr.

  • Despite their third-quarter momentum, the Owls struggled to keep pace. Mack scored five of Bryn Mawr's nine points in the quarter, including a pair of free throws. However, the Shorewomen's depth and second-chance scoring sealed the game.

The Owls turn their attention to Wednesday, January 22nd as they return to the Class of 1958 Gymnasium to host Swarthmore College in a mid-week Centennial Conference match-up.
