ASTON, PA – The Bryn Mawr volleyball team faced a difficult match earlier Wednesday night against Neumann in the Mirenda Center. The Knights made a handful of errors in the second set, but the young Owls did not take advantage and Neumann won, 3-0.
Outside hitter
Adelaide Grace led the Owls with seven kills while Neumann Melissa Eddy led the match with 12 kills.
Bryn Mawr first-years
Zara Kepler and
Charlotte Mullen led the defense with 12 digs apiece while Hannah Strohm tallied 11 digs for the Knights.
Highlights:
- The Owls took a 4-2 lead in the first thanks to two kills by first-year middle hitter Tula Reihman. However, after a few errors from the young team and two service aces by Neumann, Bryn Mawr found themselves trailing. The Knights closed the set 25-14 with an impressive .344 hitting percentage.
- Bryn Mawr was off to a strong start in the second set with a 4-1 lead after a kill by Grace and a service ace by junior Elise Perry. The Knights regained the lead after two service aces and did not give up the lead for the remainder of the set, 25-21.
- Bryn Mawr took an early 8-5 lead in the final stanza as Neumann struggled to connect. From there, the tides changed. The Knights tallied a five-rally run and retook the lead. Reihman and Grace brought in kills for the Owls, but it was not enough to quell the Knights' lead and Neumann won the third set, 25-14.
