BRYN MAWR, Pa. – The Bryn Mawr tennis team welcomed Haverford to campus earlier Tuesday for an afternoon conference match.
Sophie Fenster and
Fernanda Hurtado Mariscal won their doubles match in a tiebreak, but Haverford managed to maintain steady throughout singles for an 8-1 win.
Highlights:
- Haverford took a 2-0 lead after winning at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.
- Fenster and Hurtado Mariscal delayed the Fords' charge with a win at No. 1 doubles. The score remained even throughout until the Owls broke away in the tiebreak for the Owls' lone win of the day (8-7, 7-3).
- Gioanna Zhao played her second singles match in conference this season at No. 6 to win a game against her Haverford opponent.
- Kelly Cole and Hurtado Mariscal were the last two Owls to hold on at No. 5 and No. 4 respectively.
Bryn Mawr will return to their home courts tomorrow for another conference match against Johns Hopkins.
