BRYN MAWR, Pa. – The Bryn Mawr tennis team opened the Spring 2024 season with a home match against Stevens earlier Sunday. Sophomores
Sophie Fenster and
Kelli Eng each brought in a win for the Owls after hard fought third set tiebreaks in singles, but the Ducks of Stevens managed to take home the win, 7-2.
Highlights:
- Stevens took an early 3-0 lead after winning all three doubles matches.
- Eng won the Owls' first win of the season at No. 5 singles. After splitting sets (6-3, 1-6), the sophomore pulled out a 10-5 win in a third set tiebreaker.
- Fenster earned her own win at No. 1 singles later in the day. The sophomore captain battled for a 7-6 (7-2) first set win, but Stevens Stephanie Untermeyer stayed in the match to win the second set 6-4. Similar to her teammate, Fenster won the third set tiebreak, 10-5.
- Stevens moved to a 2-2 season record while Bryn Mawr dropped to 0-1.
The Owls' next match will be over their spring break trip on Wednesday, March 13
th at Virginia Wesleyan.
