VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Bryn Mawr tennis team competed in a breakthrough match earlier Wednesday afternoon at Virginia Wesleyan during the Owls' spring break training trip.
Lowrey West and
Kelli Eng's singles matches both went into third set tiebreaks, but the Owls came out victorious on both occasions for an 8-1 win on the day.
Highlights:
- Bryn Mawr took an early 2-1 lead with the doubles teams of Sophie Fenster and Fernanda Hurtado Mariscal and Kelly Cole and Gioanna Zhao winning their matches 8-0 and 8-3 respectively.
- Fenster led the team with a win at both No. 1 doubles and No. 1 singles (6-0, 6-2).
- West and Eng both earned their matches two-fold with wins in a third set tiebreak at No. 2 and 3 singles respectively.
- Hurtado Mariscal (No. 4), Cole (No. 5), and Zhao (No. 6) all won their singles matches for their second win of the day.
The Owls will return tomorrow as they compete at Goucher at 3pm.
