MEDIA, PA – The Bryn Mawr basketball team put on a commanding performance Thursday night, securing a 65-56 victory against the Nittany Lions of Penn State Brandywine on the road. The Owls' win was fueled by a dominant fourth quarter performance.

The game started as a back-and-forth battle, with Penn State Brandywine taking a tight 17-15 lead at the end of the first quarter. Bryn Mawr locked down defensively early on with a couple blocks from Daphne Bracker-Sturm, but Penn State Brandywine capitalized on second-chance opportunities to keep the score close.

During the second quarter the Owls returned to the court looking to take control. Jessica Smith continued her offensive onslaught, pouring in points both from mid-range and at the free-throw line. Smith finished with a game-high 21 points and picked up three rebounds with three blocks on the night. Contributions from Hannah Binder and Cameron Richter off the bench helped the Owls outscore their opponents 17-14 in the period. Heading into halftime, Bryn Mawr clung to a slim 32-31 lead.

After the break, the two teams traded buckets, with neither able to take a comfortable lead. Bracker-Sturm made the Nittany Lions pay in the paint during the third quarter. Bracker-Sturm grabbed key offensive rebounds and capitalized on putbacks to keep Bryn Mawr ahead. The sophomore grabbed nine rebounds on the night. The Owls held onto a 47-46 lead going into the final frame.

In the fourth quarter, Bryn Mawr put on an impressive show. Smith took over offensively, scoring clutch baskets and hitting free throws to build the lead. A suffocating defensive effort limited Penn State Brandywine to just 10 points in the period, while the Owls cashed in 18 to close out the road win.

The Owls dominated the glass, pulling down 51 rebounds to Brandywine's 38, and converted 22 of 30 free-throw attempts, a crucial factor in the victory.
