BRYN ATHYN, PA – The Bryn Mawr basketball team edged out Bryn Athyn in a thrilling road matchup on Tuesday night, earning a hard-fought 60-58 victory at the Asplundh Field House. The Owls relied on key contributions from senior captain Jessica Smith, sophomore Hannah Mack, and sophomore Michelle Jiang to outlast the Lions in a game filled with momentum shifts across all four quarters. The win marks the Owls' fifth of the season, moving them to a 5-2 record overall.

During the second quarter, Bryn Mawr began to claw back by tightening up on defense and cutting down Bryn Athyn's scoring opportunities. Jiang provided a much-needed spark on offense for the Owls. She scored key buckets to help Bryn Mawr outscore the Lions 15-13 in the frame. Jiang contributed 14 points and four rebounds, helping the Owls outscore Bryn Athyn in both the third and fourth quarters. By halftime, Bryn Mawr had chipped away at the lead, trailing 38-25.

Bryn Mawr came out of the break with renewed energy, dominating both ends of the court. Their defense held Bryn Athyn to just 5 points in the quarter, while Mack caught fire from beyond the arc. She ignited a fire off the bench and knocked down five three-pointers en route to a game-high 20 points. The Owls outscored the Lions 18-5, tying the game at 43 apiece heading into the final quarter.

In the final frame, both teams traded baskets, with neither able to pull away. Smith stepped up with critical minutes and cashed in clutch free throws for the Owls. Mack's hot hand and Bryn Mawr's defensive stops proved crucial as the Owls narrowly outscored Bryn Athyn 17-15 to walk away with the win.
