BALTIMORE, MD- Bryn Mawr basketball dropped a game on Friday evening against the Lions of Eastern Mennonite University at the Goucher College Invitational in Baltimore, MD. The Owls started slow in the first quarter which allowed Eastern Mennonite a 10-point lead. Despite outscoring the Lions during the second quarter, Bryn Mawr could not chip away at the team's lead and fell, 56-72.

Trailing going into the second quarter, the Owls changed their approach and looked to attack Eastern Mennonite's defense. A three-pointer from Smith lead to a Bryn Mawr scoring run. Smith knocked down two from the charity stripe to get the Owls within eight, and a steal from Govert lead to a lay-up from Daphne Bracker-Sturm. Smith cashed in a team high of 19 points on the night and Bracker-Sturm followed with 10. Bryn Mawr outscored Eastern Mennonite during the second quarter, 16-12.

Coming out of the half-time break Bryn Mawr tried to turn defense into offense but struggled to capitalize. After head coach Carla Coleman called a timeout, Smith drew two more free throws to end the Owls' scoring drought. With 4:21 left in the third quarter, Cameron Richter found Hannah Mack outside the arc for a good three-point attempt. Michelle Jiang made her presence known in the last minutes of the quarter, drawing a foul and sinking two free throws for Bryn Mawr.

In the final quarter, Bryn Mawr fought to gain momentum against the Lions' defense. With 9:09 on the clock, Bracker-Sturm knocked down a contested lay-up to put the Owls within nine. Smith knocked down a jumper and chipped Eastern Mennonite's lead to eight with 8:22 left to play, however the Lions walked away with the win.
