SWARTHMORE, PA – The Bryn Mawr soccer team competed earlier Tuesday evening against their tough Centennial Conference opponent, Swarthmore College, at Clothier Field Stadium. For the second game in a row, the Owls' defense held strong in the second half for a clean sheet, but the Garnet's lead in the opening 45 minutes proved insurmountable (4-0).
Highlights:
- The Garnet of Swarthmore jumped out to an early lead thanks in part to two quick succession goals in the initial minutes of the game. Swarthmore scored twice more in the opening half to extend their lead to four.
- Rece Anton took the Owls first shot of the game at 35:22, followed by a Bryn Mawr corner kick, but the Owls did not manage to put a mark on the board.
- Bryn Mawr found their footing late in the second half with shots on goal by senior captain Sarah Lohrey and first-year Beatriz da Silva, but both were saved by Swarthmore's goalkeeper.
- Owls goalkeeper Maeve Slemko collected four saves to maintain a scoreless second half, but Swarthmore's goals in the opening half did the trick and the Garnet won, 4-0.
