LANCASTER, PA- Bryn Mawr field hockey traveled to Lancaster, PA Saturday for a mid-day game against the Diplomats of Franklin and Marshall College. In this Centennial Conference match-up Franklin and Marshall held onto a one goal lead for 54 minutes of gameplay to hand the Owls their first loss in conference play.

Goalie Charlene Basque got action early in the game as Franklin and Marshall came out of the gates hot and recorded their first two shots on goal within the first five minutes of play. Basque recorded six saves in the game, five of which happened in the first half alone. The diplomats took seven shots on goal throughout the first quarter and at 6:16 earned the first and only goal of the game to take the lead against the Owls.

Throughout the second half, Bryn Mawr continued its offensive attack on the Diplomats. At 6:47, the Owls drew two corners back-to-back with shots from senior captains Reba Ervin and Eva Yacura. Yacura recorded two shots during the game. Bryn Mawr drew six penalty corners and recorded five shots through period four, but the Diplomats' defense stayed strong to maintain their 1-0 lead.
Bryn Mawr field hockey returns home on Wednesday, October 9th at 4:00 PM EST against Muhlenberg College on Shillingford Field.
