Owls Fall to Washington College in Home Match Wednesday Evening

BRYN MAWR, PA – The Bryn Mawr volleyball team hosted the Shorewomen of Washington College earlier Wednesday evening in a heartbreaker for the Owls in the Class of 1958 Gymnasium. The Owls kept the third set close, but did not manage to pull out the final stanza and fell to Washington College, 3-0.

Highlights:
  • Elise Perry led the Owls with four blocks, the middle blocker's best since Drew University in September while senior Zoe Boxill recorded a season best of 12 digs.
  • The Owls outshot the Shorewomen 107-105, but a handful of Bryn Mawr errors made the difference.
  • Washington College recorded a strong hitting percentage on the evening with respective percentages of 0.188 and 0.344 in the first and second set.
  • Bryn Mawr struggled to find their footing in the third set until four straight Shorewomen errors paved the way for the Owls and the home team reduced Washington College's lead to five (18-13). The Owls won the next five out of seven rallies with kills by Emma Loller and Zara Kepler, but it was not enough to stave off the Shorewomen's offense and Washington College won the third set, 25-19 and closed the match, 3-0.
The Owls will return to the Class of 1958 Gymnasium on Saturday to celebrate senior day prior to their 1:00PM EST match against the visiting Bullets of Gettysburg College.
