Soccer Drops Tough Battle Against Gettysburg

GETTYSBURG, PA- Bryn Mawr soccer traveled to Gettysburg College on Saturday afternoon for a Centennial Conference game. The Owls fought back and forth with the Bullets of Gettysburg but fell short and lost, 2-1.

Highlights:

  • The Bullets caught the Owls on the back foot to start and scored at 6:52. Bryn Mawr responded with an offensive attack of their own. At 20:27, first-year Lanie Thompson took a shot on goal that was saved by Gettysburg goalkeeper Alex Jurrow.

  • Five minutes later, Rece Anton dribbled the ball at a Gettysburg defender. The sophomore midfielder sent the ball up the pitch to Beatriz da Silva. Da Silva leaped up to receive Anton's pass and shot at Gettysburg's goal. The ball deflected off the keeper's gloves and found the back of the net for a Bryn Mawr goal.

  • The Owls and Gettysburg battled throughout the last 45 minutes on the pitch. At 47:05, Maeve Slemko made a save for Bryn Mawr to keep Gettysburg off the board. Slemko earned three saves on the day.

  • The Owls answered Gettysburg's offensive push with a shot from Anton which was saved at 53:28. At nearly the 60th minute of the game, the Bullets scored their second goal. Bryn Mawr remained in the defensive half for the rest of the game and did not have enough time to score again.
