HAVERFORD, PA – The Bryn Mawr volleyball team headed to Haverford earlier Wednesday evening for a night match against the Fords. The Owls had a strong evening, earning a .318 hitting percentage in the third set, but the Fords took home the win, 3-0.
Anna Dravk led the day with 26 assists while
Adelaide Grace led the Owls with nine kills.
Highlights:
- Bryn Mawr took an early 5-4 lead after a kill by first-year Lyra Aubry. The Owls held a strong position until the Fords found an opening after a kill by Haverford Eliana Brown gave the home team a one-point lead. From there, the Owls won four straight rallies thanks to two Haverford errors and kills by Zara Kepler and Emma Loller, and Bryn Mawr regained the lead, 16-14. The teams traded points until the Fords took a three-point lead at 21-18. A handful of Ford kills did the trick, and the home team won the set, 25-20.
- The Owls tallied another early lead in the second set after a kill by Loller and a handful of Haverford errors (5-4). The set also saw three kills by both Grace and Kepler and a service ace by Grace, but the Fords overcame and won the second set, 25-20.
- Haverford found a strong footing in the final stanza to take a five-point lead at 8-3. Elise Perry stepped up for the Owls with four straight points after a kill and two service aces, to reduce the Fords' lead to a lone point (14-13). Haverford won the next seven rallies and regained a decisive lead (21-13). Kepler recorded a final kill for the Owls and libero Charlotte Mullen finished Bryn Mawr's scoring with a service ace, before Haverford won the set, 25-17.
