BRYN MAWR, PA- The Owls faced Swarthmore Wednesday afternoon in Bryn Mawr's first Centennial Conference game of the season on Shillingford Field. Bryn Mawr played against an aggressive Garnet squad and came out victorious, 1-0. The win marks the seventh win in a row for the Owls.

From the start of period one, the visiting Garnets attacked the Owls. Swarthmore drew two penalty corners during the first period and took a shot on goal, which was saved by junior goalie Charlene Basque.

Throughout the second period, Bryn Mawr responded with an offensive attack of their own and drew two penalty corners. Swarthmore and Bryn Mawr battled back and forth throughout the first half, but by the end of the first 30 the score remained tied, 0-0.

Finding their stride once more, the Owls rejoined the pitch with newfound energy. At 34:41, senior forward Sophie Vagts entered the game and less than a minute later scored. The goal came after Bryn Mawr drew their first corner of the half. Annick van Blerkom sent the ball to Maggie Barilla who fired a shot towards the goal. Vagts tapped the ball out of the air and into the goal to give Bryn Mawr its first lead of the day.

Although they entered the fourth period with a 1-0 lead, Bryn Mawr did not slow down. The Owls recorded two more shots on goal and earned three penalty corners. Swarthmore kept the home team engaged as they earned two corners in the final 13 minutes of the game, however Bryn Mawr's back-line protected the nest in another win for the Owls.
