Bryn Mawr Drops Game Against #4 Johns Hopkins

BRYN MAWR, PA- The Owls hosted #4 Johns Hopkins University in a midday match-up Saturday on Shillingford Field. The #10 Owls saw the #4 Blue Jays for the first time since November 2023, where they faced off in the Centennial Conference tournament. The Blue Jays walked away with a 4-0 win against Bryn Mawr.

Highlights:

  • The visiting Blue Jays caught Bryn Mawr on the back foot to start the game. Johns Hopkins drew a penalty stroke at 1:14 and scored to take the early lead. Bryn Mawr looked to respond by attacking the Blue Jays' defense. The Owls earned a corner and at 10:10, Jasmine Peterson took a shot that was saved.

  • Bryn Mawr opened the second period battling the Blue Jays. The Owls started an early attack and senior captain Eva Yacura took a shot on goal at 18:29. Johns Hopkins goalkeeper Aubrey Kilgore made the save to prevent a Bryn Mawr goal. At 26:00, the Blue Jays scored their second goal of the game to leave the half up, 2-0 against the Owls.

  • Throughout the opening minutes of the second half, Bryn Mawr was put on the defensive.  Two minutes into the half, goalkeeper Charlene Basque locked down a Johns Hopkins shot to keep the Blue Jays from extending their lead. Basque recorded nine saves on the day, five in the fourth period alone.

  • During the fourth period, the visitors did not let up. Basque and the Owls' defense staved off a few Johns Hopkins' shots, however the Blue Jays secured a 4-0 win against Bryn Mawr.

The Owls look ahead to Wednesday, October 23rd where they host Washington College (MD) on Shillingford Field at 4:00 PM EST. Tune into the game live on gobrynmawr.com and follow @bmcathletics to stay up to date with your favorite Bryn Mawr teams.
