BRYN MAWR, PA – The Bryn Mawr volleyball program competed in one of their strongest matches of conference play earlier Wednesday evening as they welcomed Muhlenberg to the Class of 1958 Gymnasium. The Owls held five leads in the first set and tallied an early 10-3 lead in the third, but the Mules managed to win each set for a 3-0 win.
Highlights:
- The Owls had a strong start to record an early 7-3 lead after kills by Zara Kepler, Emma Loller, and Adelaide Grace. From there, the Mules won the next six points, but the Owls regained the lead after two kills and an ace by Grace. Despite some strong rallies by Bryn Mawr, Muhlenberg retook the lead and won the first set, 25-19.
- The scoreboard flipped back-and-forth throughout the opening points of the second set with neither team earning a strong advantage. The Owls took a second three-point run to gain a 12-11 lead, but from there, the Mules' offense overpowered Bryn Mawr. Bryn Mawr held off two set points after a kill by Tula Reihman and a Mules error, but a Muhlenberg kill ended the set, 25-15.
- Bryn Mawr earned their strongest lead of the match in the third set to take an early 10-3 lead after a service ace by Elise Perry and kills by Loller and Lyra Aubry. Muhlenberg was relentless and recorded three service aces and two kills to take a one-point lead at 11-10. The teams battled until the Mules secured a five-point lead at 20-15. Grace recorded one last kill for the Owls before the Mules finished the set 25-17 for the win.
