BRYN MAWR, Pa. – The Bryn Mawr basketball team welcomed the Diplomats of Franklin and Marshall to the Class of 1958 Gymnasium for a Thursday evening game.
Jessica Smith led the Owls with 15 points while
Daphne Bracker-Sturm led with nine rebounds and four blocks. The Diplomats were led by Lizzie Neville and Jacyln Feit with 17 and 15 points respectively. Bryn Mawr fought back from a low scoring first quarter, but the Diplomat lead proved overwhelming as the visiting team took home the win 72-32.
Highlights:
- Franklin and Marshall took a 7-0 run in the opening five minutes of the game until Smith made two free throws to open the Owls' scoreboard. The Diplomats extended the score to 14-2 before Smith returned to the line at 2:50 with two additional made free throws for the Owls.
- The Owls added 11 points to the scoreboard in the second quarter. Smith scored three layups while Hannah Mack collected two free throws followed by a free throw and a jumper by Bracker-Sturm.
- Bryn Mawr had an efficient second half at the line with nine out of ten made free throws. Smith made five free throws while Bracker-Sturm and Mack contributed two free throws apiece. Kris Pasia also contributed a jumper off an offensive rebound in the last minute of the third quarter.
The Owls will return to the court on Saturday as they travel to McDaniel for another Centennial Conference game.
