Owls Drop to Swarthmore on Tuesday Night

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Bryn Mawr basketball team traveled to Swarthmore to compete in another Centennial Conference match-up on Tuesday evening at the Tarble Pavilion. The Owls grabbed two lead changes in the first half, but at the start of the second the Garnet took control and never looked back, 69-35.

Highlights:
  • Bryn Mawr took the lead twice in the first quarter for a strong start for the Owls. Guard Jessica Smith scored the first basket of the game on a jumper. The Garnet scored the next two baskets, but first-year Maddie Seward tied the scoreboard on a layup with an assist by junior Kris Pasia. The Owls recorded a three-point lead over the Garnet thanks to a jumper by first-year Daphne Bracker-Sturm and two made free throws by Smith.
  • First-year Hannah Mack had a solid second quarter as she contributed two jumpers to the Owls' scoreboard. The defense also proved strong on both ends as the game score remained stagnant in the final minutes of the first half until Carly Murphy recorded a layup for Swarthmore with 47 seconds left on the clock.
  • Seward led the Owls in the third quarter with three made baskets while fellow first-year Michelle Jiang tallied her own basket on a layup.
  • At 2:46 left in the game, Bryn Mawr chased a last chance attempt at an offensive run. Jiang made three offensive rebounds in a row as the Owls continued to attack the boards, but they could not manage to find the basket.
The Owls will return to campus for a home game on Thursday evening as they welcome Franklin and Marshall to the Class of 1958 Gymnasium.
