BRYN MAWR, Pa. – The Bryn Mawr basketball team welcomed the Bears of Ursinus on Wednesday evening to the Class of 1958 Gymnasium for their final game before the start of the 2024 Spring semester. The Owls tripled their score in the second half after remaining stunted in the single digits during the first, but Bryn Mawr was unable to quell the Bears' lead, 55-27.

Guard Jessica Smith led the Owls with 15 points while Chinwe Irondi held the helm for Ursinus with 16 points to help extend her team's record to 9-6 on the season.

Highlights:

• Ursinus's offense proved relentless in the first half as they took a 33-7 lead. Smith opened the scoring for the Owls in the first quarter followed by a layup by first-year Maddie Seward and a three-pointer for Kris Pasia in the second quarter.
• Bryn Mawr had a slow start to the third quarter until Smith made a string of shots, three of which were made in less than a minute. The guard's hard work doubled her team's score to 14 as they entered the final stanza.
• Smith's effort in the third quarter proved to be exactly what the Owls needed in the final minutes against the Bears. Hannah Govert scored for the Owls with a made jumper at 8:55. Hannah Binder and Daphne Bracker-Sturm made their own baskets in less than a minute followed by three more baskets for Smith.

The Owls will return to the court on Tuesday for an away game at Swarthmore.
