Soccer Plays First Conference Match-Up of the Season

BRYN MAWR, Pa. – The Owls' soccer team competed in their first Centennial Conference match-up of the season against the visiting Diplomats of Franklin & Marshall. Despite a 2-0 loss, Bryn Mawr's young team proved relentless and competed in their strongest match-up against the Diplomats since the Owls' 2-0 loss in 2015 and a 1-0 win in 2014.

Highlights:
  • Goalkeeper Natalia Chorzepa '26 recorded nine saves against the Diplomats.
  • Attacking midfielder Amanda Cruz '26 set up a few opportunities for the Owls and even recorded her own shot within the first five minutes of the second half.
  • Defensive midfielder Ariel Shultz '24 had a successful day on the field as she was consistent in connecting the back line to her forward teammates.
  • The Owls' strongest scoring opportunity came at 64:09 in the second half by Lourdes Sankar '27, but she was unable to get Bryn Mawr on the scoreboard after a high shot that left the field.
  • In the last six minutes of the game, Franklin & Marshall Mikaela Timmermans looked to turn the scoreboard 3-0. Chorzepa jumped out of the goal to make a save, but it slipped from her hands.
  • Quick on her feet, Madeline Cohen '24 stepped in and recorded the Owls' first defensive save of the season.
  • This would also be the last scoring opportunity of the game and the Diplomats recorded their first Conference game of the season.
The Owls will travel to Washington College to compete in their first Centennial Conference away game of the season on Wednesday evening.
