ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Bryn Mawr lacrosse program traveled to Muhlenberg to continue their conference competition earlier Wednesday afternoon.
Elizabeth Tompkins '23 had a standout performance against the Mules, recording a season high of 20 saves. The Owls scored the first goal of every quarter and kept Muhlenberg's offense at bay with a scoreless fourth quarter, but it was not enough to make a comeback and the Owls lost 14-8.
Camille Franklin '24 tallied her 21
st goal of the season in the opening minute of the game, but the Mules quickly rallied back, and tallied the next five goals.
Maddie Sullivan '25 opened the second quarter with a goal for the Owls, but again, Muhlenberg extended their lead to seven in the next seven minutes.
Orli McGuire-Berk '25 tallied her first goal of the game to round out the Owls' scoring in the half (9-3).
Once again, Bryn Mawr opened the third quarter with the first goal, this time by
Maya DiFrischia '23. DiFrischia would go on to score another goal in the fourth quarter, further surpassing her number of goals scored in the previous two seasons. At 14 goals for the season, the senior is two away from doubling the number of goals scored in her first season with Bryn Mawr in 2020.
In the remaining minutes of the third quarter, Sullivan proved again successful at a free position shot, going 2-2 on the day to bring the Owls' score to five.
Down by nine, the Owls refused to give up hope for a comeback. Bryn Mawr's defense kept the Mules at bay with a scoreless fourth quarter and the offense had their strongest offensive quarter of the game with eight shots, three goals, and seven clear attempts.
Sloan Johnson '23, assisted by McGuire-Berk, scored the first goal of the quarter. This marked the senior's 20
th goal of the season.
Yet, it would be another four minutes until the Owls saw the back of the cage with a goal by DiFrischia. Down to the wire, the Owls' offense took four more shots, but unfortunately only
Leilani Soriano's shot in the remaining two minutes of the game found success. Without another shot opportunity, the Mules won 14-8.
Muhlenberg moves to 8-2 while Bryn Mawr drops to 5-5.
Bryn Mawr will return to Applebee Field on Saturday for a conference match-up against Gettysburg.
