ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Bryn Mawr tennis program had another successful day on the courts with a 9-0 conference win against Muhlenberg College earlier Saturday afternoon.
Wynn Bryant '24 bounced back from a tough loss yesterday against Ursinus, while
Fernanda Hurtado '25 clinched the match at third singles.
Doubles:
- Lowrey West '25 and Hurtado began the Owls' rampage with an 8-1 win at second doubles.
- Macey Ellis '26 won her first doubles match of her collegiate career as she competed on the day with Bryant at third doubles (8-2).
- Kelli Eng '26 had her first opportunity to play first doubles with partner Sophie Fenster '26 and they quickly gave the Owls a 3-0 lead going into singles (8-2).
Singles:
- Without Nicole Lim and Fenster, the team was bumped up in their singles position, and every Owl proved to be up to the challenge.
- Lilly Pfister '25 gave the Owls a point for the first time this season as she claimed victory at sixth singles (6-0, 6-2).
- Hurtado brought the Owls fifth win of the day at third singles to claim victory for Bryn Mawr (6-4, 6-2).
- Bryant quickly took down her opponent (6-2, 6-1) and claimed her first win of the season at first singles.
- West also had a fast win at second singles (6-2, 6-1).
- Eng claimed her sixth win at sixth singles (6-2, 6-1) and remains undefeated in the position.
- Last on court was Kelly Cole '24 at fourth singles. The junior refused to drop a game in the first set but struggled to close the match in the second set before eventually splitting sets with her opponent. The match had already been decided in the Owls' favor so the third set was played as a 10-point third set tiebreak. Cole left victorious as she won the tiebreak 10-5 to claim Bryn Mawr's ninth win of the day.
Bryn Mawr now moves to 9-6 on the season and will return to action next Friday for their last conference match of the season against McDaniel.
