BRYN MAWR, Pa. – The Owls suffered another conference loss against the Diplomats of Franklin & Marshall earlier Sunday afternoon. After falling 3-0 after doubles, Bryn Mawr battled for each game in singles, but were unable to manage a single set from the Diplomats and lost 9-0.
Doubles:
- The Diplomats made quick work of the Owls in doubles, but each Bryn Mawr team managed to win a single game against their opponents.
- At first doubles, Nicole Lim and Fernanda Hurtado competed against Cassidy Landau and Mackenzie Sherman (8-1).
- At second doubles, Lowrey West and Wynn Bryant fell to Clara March Okuyama and Jenna Harrison (8-1).
- Kelli Eng and Macey Ellis wrapped third doubles with an 8-1 loss to Amelia Squires and Rebecca Bellick.
Singles:
- Ellis was the first to step off the court, winning a single game against her opponent at six singles.
- West (6-2, 6-2) and Hurtado (6-3, 6-2) were the next to shake hands at third and fourth singles respectively.
- Both Bryant (6-4, 6-1) at second singles and Eng (6-4, 6-1) at fifth singles battled in their first sets.
- Lim at first singles maintained her endurance and aggressive play throughout the match, finding her way to the net multiple times each game,. However, the graduate student struggled to close a few key points and eventually lost 6-3, 6-3.
The Diplomats move to a 4-6 overall record and 2-1 in the conference, while the Owls drop to 6-3 overall and 0-3 in the conference.
The tennis team will return on Wednesday for an away game against Haverford.
