SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Owls traveled to Swarthmore for another conference match earlier Wednesday afternoon. Despite a strong performance by
Kelli Eng '26 at fifth singles, the Owls fell 9-0 to the Garnet.
Doubles:
- Swarthmore took an early 3-0 lead after winning all three doubles matches.
- Wynn Bryant '24 and Lowrey West '25 fell at first doubles (8-0).
- Fernanda Hurtado '25 and Sophie Fenster '25, who played her first match since suffering an injury, lost 8-1 at second doubles.
- At third doubles, Kelly Cole '24 and Kelli Eng '26 managed a game off their Garnet opponents but lost 8-1.
Singles:
- Bryant (first singles), Hurtado (third singles), and Cole (fourth singles) managed a game off their opponents, but soon fell.
- West proved better against her Garnet opponent at second singles, but eventually lost 6-1, 6-1.
- Jill Hurtado '26 retired from her match against Rao Riya.
- Eng proved to be the last match on court. Battling against her Garnet opponent at fifth singles, the first year lost the first set in a close tiebreak. Eng continued to fight, but eventually lost the second set 6-1.
Bryn Mawr will return to action on Friday in a home match against Ursinus.
