Owls Celebrate Senior Day in Their Closest Game to Washington in Program History

Maya DiFrischia scores for the seventh game in a row.

BRYN MAWR, Pa. – The Owls celebrated their Senior Day earlier Wednesday afternoon as they welcomed the Shorewomen of Washington College to campus for a conference match-up. The Shorewomen led the first half 5-1, but the Owls fought furiously to overcome their deficit in the second half with four goals. In the last five minutes of the game, Meghan O'Shea closed the Owls' scoring deficit to 7-5, but it was not enough as Washington brought in two more goals before the blow of the whistle. The Owls fell to the Shorewomen in their closest game against Washington College in program history (9-5).

After Bryn Mawr honored 10 of their seniors, the teams were off to the races. Maddie Sullivan '25 opened the scoring at 13:16 in the first quarter, but Washington Ellie Morrall tied the game less than a minute later. The Shorewomen quickly went on to score an additional four goals to lead the half 5-1.

After Washington scored their sixth goal in a row, Sloan Johnson '23 got the Owls back on the scoreboard with a goal, soon followed by another goal by Sullivan to bring the score to 6-3 in Washington's favor.

Two more Owl seniors scored in the fourth quarter. Maya DiFrischia scored for the seventh game in a row while Meghan O'Shea rounded the Owls' scoring to minimize Washington's lead to 7-5.

Within the next five minutes, the Shorewomen sent two goals into the back of the net. Unable to return the favor, Washington led 9-5 at the blow of the whistle to win the game.

Despite the loss, this proved to be one of the Owls' strongest defensive games of the season as they made program history with the closest game against Washington College in College history.

Elizabeth Tompkins '23 also looks to make program history. The senior's 18 save day moved her into second place in the program record books for the lowest goals against average percentage in a single season (9.34).

Bryn Mawr will travel to Swarthmore on Saturday for their last of two away games of the season.
