BRYN MAWR, Pa. -
Maddie Sullivan '25 led the Owls' offense with two goals while fellow sophomore
Orli McGuire-Berk led the defense with four ground balls and three caused turnovers. However, a seven-scoring run in the second quarter proved the difference as the George Fox Bruins of Oregon outlasted the Owls 13-5 on Tuesday afternoon.
The Bruins took an early lead with a goal by Olivia Geyling, but Sullivan answered with her own goal minutes later to tie the game.
Sullivan scored again in the second quarter for her tenth goal of the season, but from there, the Bruins went on a seven-goal rampage before halftime.
After a 27-minute stint without a Bryn Mawr goal,
Maya DiFrischia '23 finally got the Owls back on the scoreboard with less than a minute left in the third quarter.
Sloan Johnson '23 and
Camille Franklin '24 reduced the Owls scoring deficit in the fourth quarter to bring the score to 11-5. However, the Bruins added their own pair of goals and Bryn Mawr once again trailed by seven.
Chessa MacGregor '25 took the Owls' final attempt at a goal in the last 12 seconds of the game, but it missed wide. George Fox won the teams' first series game 13-5.
George Fox remains undefeated at 11-0 and will play one more game in the Greater Philadelphia Area before returning to the west coast while Bryn Mawr drops to 5-3.
The Owls will return to conference action on Saturday in a home game against the Red Devils of Dickinson.
