BRYN MAWR, Pa. – The Owls' six match win streak ended Saturday evening in Bryn Mawr's first conference match against Washington College (5-4). Due to the inclement weather, the day's match was moved to Delaware Valley Tennis Association.
Doubles
- The Shorewomen won two of the three doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead on the Owls heading into singles.
- In first doubles, Nicole Lim and Fernanda Hurtado bested Washington's Isabella Sorhegui and Kathryn Ruppert (8-5)
- Washington tied the match at second doubles, Wynn Bryant and Lowrey West fell to Piper Sartison and Soleil Namunyola (8-1).
- Washington took the lead at third doubles as Eva Kading and Bin Nguyen won over Kelli Eng and Kelly Cole (8-4).
Singles
- The first singles match to finish was third singles, West falling to Namunyola (6-1, 6-2).
- The Owls improved the score with their second win of the day at first singles as Lin (6-1, 6-2) remains undefeated.
- The Shorewomen won the next two matches to secure victory as Cole (6-0, 6-2) lost at fourth singles and Hurtado (6-4, 6-0) lost at fifth singles.
- The Owls won two more matches on the day, beginning with Bryant (6-4, 6-3) at second singles.
- Both lineups showed their strength at six singles, but it was Eng who prevailed as she won in the pro set tiebreak (7-2) in the final match to be played.
The Owls are now 6-1 on the season, while the Shorewomen move to a 3-5 record.
Bryn Mawr will travel to Johns Hopkins on Tuesday for their second conference match of the season.
