BRYN MAWR, Pa. – First-year
Cameron Richter dropped a career high of five made 3-pointers for a total of 15 points for the Owls, but Bryn Mawr ultimately fell to Muhlenberg, 66-43, in a home Centennial Conference match-up earlier Tuesday afternoon at the Class of 1958 Gymnasium.
In addition to Richter, Bryn Mawr also received a solid contribution from junior
Jessica Smith who led the Owls with 16 points and eight rebounds.
Highlights:
- The Mules took the first baskets of the game, but junior Kris Pasia and Smith tied the game at 6-6 after each Owl made their own 3-pointer.
- Richter scored her first of five 3-pointers to give Bryn Mawr their lone lead of the evening at 11-10, but the Mules tallied three baskets to take an early 14-11 in the opening period.
- Richter led the Owls with nine points in the second quarter, most notably to help quell Muhlenberg's 10-point lead.
- Junior Hannah Binder also contributed to the Owls' scoring in the second, but Muhlenberg was able to create separation and headed into the locker room with a 35-26 lead.
- The Owls struggled to get on the scoreboard as the Mules were the lone scorers the first two minutes of the third quarter until first-year Michelle Jiang made two free throws for Bryn Mawr.
- Smith made a jumper in the paint while Richter rounded out her scoring with her final 3-pointer of the evening.
- The fourth quarter was tightly contested with Muhlenberg only outshooting Bryn Mawr by two. Smith tallied 11 points for the Owls while first-year Maddie Seward rounded out the home team's scoring with a made free throw.
Bryn Mawr will be back in action on Thursday evening for another Conference game against Johns Hopkins at 7pm at the Class of 1958 Gymnasium.
