Volleyball Drops First Conference Contest of the Season

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Owls fell to the Garnet of Swarthmore, 3-0 (25-13, 25-20, 25-8) in Bryn Mawr's Centennial Conference opener Thursday evening at Tarble Pavillion.  

Swarthmore hit .413 percent for the match and were led by Trisha Razdan and Alexia Enache, who combined for 16 kills to help pace the offense.

Bryn Mawr was led by Elise Perry and Emma Loller with six and five kills respectively, as Perry hit .235 percent for the match. Anna Dravk dished 10 dimes, while outside hitter Micah Sheppard tallied seven digs. Defensively, Sheppard and Loller each earned a block assist.

Highlights:
  • The Owls managed eight kills in the opening frame, but they were outpaced, and the Garnet took the first set 25-13.
  • Dravk opened the second set with a service ace and the match quickly became a back-and-forth affair with seven ties.
  • The Garnet managed to hold the lead after two kills and a service ace, and eventually took a 2-0 lead.
  • Bryn Mawr struggled in the third set as Swarthmore grabbed an early six-point lead. Despite kills from Boxill, Loller, Perry, and Sheppard, the Owls continued to trail behind. The Garnet won a seven-point rally to extend their lead to twelve and forced the Owls into a timeout. Swarthmore won the next eight out of 11 points to finish the set 25-8.
Bryn Mawr drops to a 3-7 overall record while Swarthmore remains undefeated in conference matchups this season.

The Bryn Mawr volleyball program will welcome Franklin & Marshall to the Class of 1958 Gymnasium for a 1 P.M. contest on Saturday.
