Owls Tie with Haverford, 1-1 in Last Home Game of the Season

BRYN MAWR, Pa. – The Bryn Mawr soccer team competed in their final home game of the season against Haverford earlier Tuesday afternoon in a 1-1 tie on Applebee Field.

Sophomore forward Daniela Dosen opened the scoring on a penalty kick for the Owls in the first half, while goalkeeper Aliya Stubenbord recorded eight saves, the highest of her goalkeeping career.

Highlights:
  • Both teams had strong scoring opportunities in the opening minutes of the game, most notably Bryn Mawr Rece Anton who attempted a header. However, Haverford Abigale Baker collected a defensive save and the scoreboard remained scoreless.
  • The Owls were awarded a penalty kick at the 16:46 mark and Daniela Dosen's right-footed attempt was a success as Bryn Mawr took a 1-0 lead.
  • The Fords took five more shots during the remainder of the first half, but all were saved by Stubenbord and the Owls held their lead as they entered halftime.
  • Sarah Lohrey led the Owls from the start of the second half with two shots, one of which was a header, however neither ticked the scoreboard.
  • At 77:54 Haverford managed to tie the game with a goal by Sarah Klink. At the throw in taken by Haverford, Klin maneuvered around Bryn Mawr's defenders. The Owls attempted to reverse Klin's kick, but an unsuccessful stop resulted in a Haverford goal to tie the game, 1-1.
  • The Owls aimed to break the tie and regain their lead with a shot by sophomore Carly Penn at the 78:18 mark. This would be the Owls' last shot of the game before the sound of the horn.
Bryn Mawr will compete in their final game of the season on Saturday as they travel to McDaniel for a 3:00pm kickoff.
