Volleyball Competes in Tri-Match Against Johns Hopkins and Averett

BALTIMORE, Md. – The Bryn Mawr volleyball team compete in a tri-match earlier Saturday afternoon in the Newton H. White Center against Centennial Conference opponent #9 Johns Hopkins and Averett. The Owls played a close match against Averett but went 0-2 for the day.

Game 1: Bryn Mawr 0, Johns Hopkins 3
  • The Owls battled hard against the #9 Johns Hopkins, but the Blue Jays won on their home court 25-8, 25-9, 25-9.
  • Emma Loller and Elise Perry led the Owls' offense with five and four kills respectively, while Omi Oliver led the Owls with nine assists.
  • Bryn Mawr recorded 15 digs led by Orli McGuire-Berk with five dishes.
Game 2: Bryn Mawr 0, Averett 3
  • The Owls made Averett work for their win with close scores in the second and third set. Yet, the Cougars eked out all three sets for a score of 25-9, 25-19, 25-21.
  • Elise Perry had another strong showing with seven kills followed by Zoe Boxill with five kills. In total, the Owls recorded 22 kills, their best of the month.
  • Bryn Mawr led the Cougars in aces 7-3 (Saya Feldman - 3, Emma Loller - 3, and Omi Oliver – 1).
  • The Owls also had one of their strongest matches at the net as Feldman, Perry, and Loller brought in two blocks apiece.
  • Bryn Mawr earned four leads early in the opening set, but a 17 rally win for the Cougars paved the way for a first set win.
  • The Owls kept a tight second set with six tied scores. Yet, the Cougars pulled away at 22-16 and Bryn Mawr could not manage to diminish their opponents lead despite two service aces by Loller at the end of the set.
  • Bryn Mawr took two significant leads in the final stanza, their strongest being a four-point lead at 11-7 after a kill by Perry and service ace by Oliver.
  • The Owls managed to maintain their lead until 16-15, but from there the Cougars led the scoreboard.
Bryn Mawr volleyball will next compete in another away match at Washington College on Wednesday evening.
