Field Hockey Earns Third Win Against Gettysburg in Program History

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Bryn Mawr midfielder juniors Eva Yacura and Hazel Miller recorded goals to lift the Owls to a 2-0 victory at Gettysburg in Centennial Conference fashion earlier Saturday afternoon for the team's third win against the Bullets in program history.

Bryn Mawr outshot Gettysburg 14-7 with four shots on goal by Owls Maggie Barilla while sophomore goalkeeper Charlene Basque made six saves for the Owls.

The Owls move to 9-6 overall and 4-4 in Conference action, while Gettysburg falls to 5-9 overall and 2-7 in Conference play.

Highlights:
  • Bryn Mawr outshot the Bullets 4-1 in the first quarter, but none notched the back of the cage.
  • The Owls maintained their offensive control in the opening minutes of the second quarter with two penalty corners and a shot by Novy Goetgeluk.
  • The Owls opened the scoring at 26:01. At 25:53 Annick van Blerkom took a penalty corner for the Owls. Yacura took the insert, it was deflected off a Gettysburg defender, and tipped directly into the goal and the Owls took a 1-0 lead.
  • The Bullets took three shots on goal after Yacura's goal, but all were saved by Basque.
  • After five penalty corners and four shots in the third quarter, the Owls ticked the scoreboard for a second time. At 43:53, Hazel Miller took the cross from the right side of the back post off an assist by Jubinville and the Owls extended their lead to 2-0.
  • The Owls continued to outshoot the Bullets 3-2 in the fourth quarter, but all shots were saved, and the score remained 2-0.
The Bryn Mawr field hockey team will return to action on October 25 as they welcome Ursinus to Applebee Field.
