BRYN MAWR, Pa. – The Bryn Mawr volleyball program celebrated Pride Night earlier Wednesday afternoon in a Centennial Conference match-up against Haverford as the teams competed in the Class of 1958 Gymnasium.
Bryn Mawr took the lead in the third set in hopes of extending the match into a fourth set, but it was the Fords of Haverford who won the day (25-13, 25-11, 25-20).
The Owls had one of their best serving days this season with a total of eight service aces, four of which were earned by first-year setter
Omi Oliver. Oliver also led the Owls with a .333 percentage and 10 assists.
First-year
Saya Feldman led the Owls with five kills.
Highlights:
- The Owls struggled to find a rhythm in the first set as the Fords took an early eight-point lead.
- Emma Loller recorded two service aces, while Loller, Zoe Boxill, Feldman, and Micah Sheppard each earned a kill, but it was not enough to quell the Fords' lead and Haverford took the first set, 25-13.
- Early in the second set, Bryn Mawr tied the match for the first time of the evening after a bad set taken by the Fords.
- Haverford answered with their strongest hitting percentage of the match (.423), and despite seven Bryn Mawr kills, a string of two six and seven point rallies earned the Fords a 2-0 lead.
- The Owls came out as a new team in the third set, earning their best lead of the night at 4-0 and maintaining the lead to 9-6.
- Trailing by three, the Fords went on the attack and took their first lead of the set at 10-9.
- Both teams fought tooth and nail with three tied scores and four leads taken in the third set.
- The back-and-forth affair ended with the Fords winning a four-point rally, and their lead proved too great for the Owls as Haverford won the third and final set 25-20.
