Box Score BRYN MAWR, Pa. – The Owls returned home after two road games to welcome Johns Hopkins to campus on Saturday afternoon. After a dominating first half from the Blue Jays, Bryn Mawr found their stride in the second half, adding 20 points to the scoreboard. Jess Smith led the Owls with 11 points while three Owls' players scored a three-pointer. However, the Blue Jays' offense proved unstoppable, and the home team went home with their third conference win 82-29.
The Blue Jays' offense was off to a quick start, adding 17 points to the scoreboard before Owls Hannah Binder added the team's first two points around the seven-minute mark. A minute later, Smith followed up with her first jump shot of the game to add to Bryn Mawr's score. In the last minute of the quarter, Ella Kotsen made a three-point jump shot to bring the Owls to seven points. Yet, it was the Blue Jays who racked up the most points and the quarter ended with Hopkins at a 23-7 lead.
Bryn Mawr struggled to get on the board in the second quarter, Smith scoring the only two points for the Owls after two made free throws. Johns Hopkins extended their lead to 38-9 by the end of the half.
Bryn Mawr finally got out of their slump in the third quarter, adding 12 points to their total over the next ten minutes. Hannah Binder was the leading scorer for the Owls in the quarter, racking up six points, followed by Pasia who made a free throw and a three-pointer, the Owls' second of the game. Aliya Studenbord scored her first jump shot of the game. Yet, the Blue Jays scored a total of 29 points to continue their lead 67-21.
Syndey Collins jumpstarted the fourth quarter, making the Owls' first points on a free throw. This energized Smith as she made the Owls' third three-pointer a minute later. Smith added an additional jump shot and layup over the next four minutes. However, the Owls were unable to make additional shots in the remaining two minutes of the game and Hopkins won 80-29.
Bryn Mawr will play another home game on Wednesday at 7:00 PM in the Class of 1958 Gymnasium against Haverford.
