Govert Honored on Senior Day in Owls' Final Contest of Season

BRYN MAWR, PA— Bryn Mawr basketball welcome Gettyburg College to the Class of 1958 Gymnasium earlier Saturday for the Owls' final contest of the 2025-26. Prior to tip-off the Owls celebrated senior day, honoring their lone senior Hannah Govert. Bryn Mawr showed resilience against one of the top schools in the Centennial Conference, pulling down 39 total rebounds, including 12 on the offensive glass, and knocking down four three-pointers. Bryn Mawr also tallied eight steals and battled for second-chance opportunities, highlighted by a strong third quarter in which the Owls scored 11 points. Yet, Gettysburg took the win, 66-29.

How It Happened:
  • Gettysburg opened the contest with an early surge, but Bryn Mawr continued to battle possession by possession. Hannah Mack contributed a jumper in the paint, while Govert added a 3-pointer to narrow the gap midway through the quarter.
  • Gettysburg capitalized on turnovers, converting them into nine points, and dominated inside with 14 points in the paint. Despite Bryn Mawr's efforts, Gettysburg extended their lead by closing the quarter with a 17-5 advantage.
  • Bryn Mawr faced a challenging second quarter as Gettysburg initiated a strong offensive drive, capitalizing on turnovers and scoring efficiently in the paint. Despite a defensive block by Jenny Briggs made an early on, Gettysburg's transition play led to multiple fast-break points, widening the gap. Govert's three-pointer and Michelle Jiang's successful free throws provided brief scoring relief for the Owls, but consistent defensive rebounds and a tip-in by Jenna Vollor were not enough to halt Gettysburg's momentum. The quarter concluded with Bryn Mawr trailing as Gettysburg extended its lead to 42-12.
  • Bryn Mawr initiated the third quarter with defensive intensity, forcing Gettysburg into a series of turnovers. Mack capitalized on a steal by scoring a layup, contributing to the home team's early momentum. Jiang added a three-pointer to keep the offense engaged.
  • Defensively, Bryn Mawr continued to disrupt Gettysburg's rhythm, evidenced by multiple steals from Briggs and Sydney Gelhar. Although Gettysburg managed a few scoring plays, including a late three-pointer, Bryn Mawr closed the quarter on a strong note with Mack hitting a three-pointer off an assist from Sena Kaper-Dale. The quarter ended with the Owls narrowing the gap, trailing 51–23.
  • Bryn Mawr began the fourth quarter with a focus on defense, securing crucial rebounds. Maddy Patel and Bridget Barron each also contributed with key layups, highlighting the quarter for the home team. The Owls maintained control in the paint, scoring four points from inside.
  • Gettysburg capitalized on Bryn Mawr's turnovers, executing a series of successful drives, including perimeter shooting that extended their lead. The visitors managed to score 15 points in the quarter, aided by bench contributions and fast breaks. Bryn Mawr closed the quarter by adding six points, with a late jumper from Patel, concluding the game with a score of 66-29 in favor of Gettysburg.
