BRYN MAWR, Pa. - The Bryn Mawr badminton team had a successful home game against Swarthmore last Thursday, winning 4 of the 7 matches played on the night.
In singles, team captain Mariam Haider put up a strong fight against Swarthmore's Hailie Xie, going to 20-20 in the second set, but fell in the final moments, with the score of 11-21, 20-22. Junior Koko Zhang made a great comeback in the second set but took a tough loss against Swarthmore's Sally Peng, with the score of 7-21, 18-21. Junior Charlotte Lin dominated her game against Swarthmore's Ellie Lee, with the score of 21-16, 21-7. Freshman Ruby Pritchett played a very close game against Swarthmore's Peiyi Mei in the first set, with the score of 21-19, but pulled through in the end, winning her second set with the score of 21-10.
In doubles, team captain Mariam Haider and sophomore Chris Pathmanabhan played well but suffered loss against Swarthmore's Hailie Xie and May Htet, with the score of 10-21, 9-21. Team captain Cindy Chen and sophomore Blossom Jeong dominated their match against Ellie Lee and Bing, with the score of 21-11, 21-10. Freshman Meagan Kearney and sophomore Jordan Hussey did superbly in their match as well, with the score of 21-11, 21-12.
