Box Score 2 SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. – Junior Samantha Abbott and sophomore Rachel Ofili were named to the All-Seven Sisters team Sunday afternoon following the conclusion of the 2013 championship.
The final day of the championships started with a 3-0 (25-16, 25-12, 25-11) loss to the eventual runner-up, Smith College. Ofili led the Owls with nine kills while Abbott added four. Senior Victoria Peltonen smacked home three kills.
Sophomore Zoe Holman handed-out 19 assists while Abbot and sophomore Sarah Gates combined for three aces. Holman and Ofili recorded two total blocks in the day's first day.
The Owls closed out the 2013 Seven Sisters Championship as they fell to Vassar 3-1 (19-25,25-19,25-22,25-14). Despite winning the opening set, the Owls were unable to slow down the Brewers offensive as they cruised to the win.
Abbott paced the Owls with a team-best 12 kills. Sophomore Noemi Moreno and Ofili added five kills each. Gates ended the match by tacking-on four kills. Freshman Caroline Cosby recorded four total blocks while Holman and Ofili added three total blocks each.
Holman posted a team-high 23 assists while Moreno boasted a team-best five aces. Abbott ended the game with a team-high seven digs.
The Owls are back to action on Tuesday, Oct. 15, when they host Gettysburg and Lancaster Bible for a tri-match. The Owls take on the Bullets at 3:00 pm followed by Gettysburg-LBC at 5:00 pm and Bryn Mawr-Lancaster Bible at 7:00 pm.
