Volleyball opens 2011 at Delaware Valley Tri-Match

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Bryn Mawr College volleyball team opened their 2011 schedule on the road at Delaware Valley's tri-match featuring the Aggies, Owls and Lancaster Biblical.

Bryn Mawr dropped their opening match of the season to host DelVal 1-3 (11-25, 26-24, 16-25, 25-27). Leading the way for the Owls with 14 kills was senior middle hitter Mikecia Witherspoon. Freshman Danielle Preziuso dished out 18 assists while sophomore Victoria Peltonen and junior Hannah Rosebrock tallied 12 digs each. Senior middle Katie Merrill posted five total blocks.

In the second match of the day, Lancaster Bible defeated Bryn Mawr 3-1 (18-25, 25-22, 25-19, 25-16). Sophomore middle Jackie Handy and Witherspoon each recorded seven kills in the game. Preziuso handed out 12 assists and Witherspoon dug 20 Charger's attacks.

Bryn Mawr returns to the hardwood on Wednesday, Sept. 7, when they travel to Cabrini for a 5:00 pm match.
