BRYN MAWR, Pa. – The Bryn Mawr field hockey team picked up its first win of the season as it took down Wellesley College, 2-0, at Shillingford Field on Sunday afternoon.
 
Highlights:

• Bryn Mawr (1-1) put pressure on Wellesley early as Lucie Burgess tested the keeper just 29 seconds in. The Owls fought off an offensive response from the Blue as goalkeeper Sydney Wright turned aside a pair of shots in the opening minutes.
• After controlling the tempo for most of the first quarter, BMC finally got on the board with 81 seconds to play. A shot off a corner from Julia Ward was blocked and found its way to the stick of Nadine Roddy for the opening goal.  It marks the first collegiate goal for the Ballymena, Northern Ireland native.
• It took just 54 seconds for the Owls to find the back of the net again as Ward fired in the second of the game on a corner. It's the first career goal for the sophomore while Ilona Bender picked up the assist. Bryn Mawr finished the frame with nine shots while holding the Blue to just three.
• Wellesley went on the offensive in the second forcing Wright to make a trio of saves before taking the Owls into halftime with a 2-0 lead.
• The second half proved to be a more defensive showcase with either side only recording one shot on goal. Bryn Mawr and Wellesley each notched four shot attempts.
• Roddy led the Owls with four shots and two shots on goal while Addison Graupensperger and Ward each posted three shots. Wright finished the day with seven saves.

 
Bryn Mawr heads on the road for its next contest, as the Owls take on Arcadia on Wednesday, September 9 at 6 p.m.
