BRYN MAWR, Pa. – The Bryn Mawr field hockey team battled No. 5 Johns Hopkins in a rainy Centennial Conference opener at Shillingford Field on Saturday afternoon. The Owls (6-2) fought hard in the contest but fell to the Blue Jays, 5-1.

Highlights:
- After much back-and-forth to start the game, Johns Hopkins posted the first three shots of the contest in the middle of the frame.
- The Owls put pressure on the visitors, notching two shots before Carrie Povich found Julia Ward on a corner to put Bryn Mawr ahead late in the first quarter.
- Johns Hopkins brought the fight back to BMC in the second quarter, tallying nine shots in the frame. Owl's goalkeeper, Sydney Wright notched six saves in the opening half.
- The Blue Jays leveled the score early in the second half, tying the contest two minutes and thirty seconds in with a goal from Evie Hamm. It took less than six minutes for JHU to strike again, this time from Sophia Albano.
- Sarah Chilton extended the lead for Johns Hopkins in the fourth quarter, scoring two minutes in on a penalty stroke. The Blue Jays netted two more goals at the end of the game to take home the 5-1 win.
- Wright finished the contest with a career-high ten saves.
