BRYN MAWR, PA- The Bryn Mawr tennis team fell to Dickinson, 5-2, in Centennial Conference action on Friday afternoon in a tough back and forth match-up.
Highlights:
- The Owls opened strong in doubles, taking the early point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3. Claire Emanuel and Kelli Eng dominated at the top spot with a 6-1 victory, while Sophie Fenster and Gioanna Zhao secured a 6-4 win at No. 3 to clinch the doubles point. The No. 2 pair of Bianca Vesuna and Shay Villegas battled in a tight match, falling 7-6.
- In singles play, Dickinson rallied to take five of six matches, but Bryn Mawr picked up a key point at No. 5 with Vesuna battling in an almost three hour match. After dropping a close first set, 7-6 (7-2), Vesuna responded with a 7-6 (8-6) second-set win before closing out the match with a 10-6 victory in the third-set tiebreak.
- Elsewhere in singles, Fenster pushed her opponent to three sets at No. 1 before falling 2-6, 7-6 (7-4), 10-2.
