Herrold Scores Twice in 2-1, Overtime Win Over Muhlenberg

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – A pair of goals from Amanda Herrold lifted the Bryn Mawr field hockey team to a 2-1 overtime victory in a Centennial Conference clash on Wednesday night.

Highlights:
  • Bryn Mawr (8-3, 2-2 Centennial) earned the first corner of the contest four and a half minutes in, setting the stage for shots from Amanda Herrold and Addison Graupensperger. After a rush down the field and wide shot from the Muhlenberg (3-8, 1-3), the Owls went right back on the offensive. Another corner was awarded and saw Herrold's shot get blocked before Graupensperger put one off the post.
  • The Mules netted the first goal of the contest thanks to Jocelyn Morgan.
  • It took until the dying moments of the first half for Bryn Mawr to level the contest as Leya Patel found Julia Ward on a corner. Ward sent the ball towards the cage before finding the stick of Herrold for the deflection and the game-tying goal. It was the first career goal for the Hampstead, Md. Native.
  • BMC outshot Muhlenberg in the second half, 10-3, while recording four shots on goal.
  • 60 minutes of play proved to be not enough as the contest would require overtime to determine a winner.
  • Around three minutes into the extra frame Delia Angulo Chen found Herrold on the left side who spun and fired a shot on goal. The shot went off the blocker of the Brenna Fitzpatrick and slowly trickled over the line of the overtime winner.
  • Sydney Wright finished the night with five saves.

Bryn Mawr returns home on Saturday, October 10 as it is set to host McDaniel at Shillingford Field at 1 p.m.
