BRYN MAWR, PA – Bryn Mawr College head rowing coach
Katie Ely has been named the Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference (MARC) Coach of the Year, as announced Wednesday. Ely, who has led the program since June 2022, earns the honor after guiding the Owls through a record-setting 2024-25 season.
Under Ely's leadership, Bryn Mawr has finished second at the MARC Championships in back-to-back seasons. During her tenure, multiple Owls have earned MARC First Team, Second Team, and Novice Team honors, reflecting the growth and competitiveness she has brought to the program.
This spring, the Owls placed second at both the MARC Championships and the Dad Vail Regatta, two of the most important races on the schedule. At MARC Championships, Bryn Mawr scored 32 team points—the most in program history at the event. The team also made history by entering three Varsity 8+ boats at both MARC and Dad Vail, the only program in either regatta to do so.
Adding to their list of accomplishments, Bryn Mawr was ranked No. 15 in the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) National Division III poll, released Tuesday, May 6.
Ely's recognition as Coach of the Year is a testament to her leadership, the team's progress, and the bright future ahead for Bryn Mawr rowing.
