New York, NY- Bryn Mawr volleyball went 1-1 in their tri-match season opener earlier Friday at Baruch College in New York City. The Owls won in a five-set thriller against the hosts Baruch College behind crucial performances from its rookies. In its second match of the day, the Owls lost 3-1 to the St. Joseph's University-Brooklyn Bears.

The Owls started off the match strong, winning the first two sets with comfortable margins. The Bearcats pushed back after Bryn Mawr's quick start, winning set three and four to force a fifth set. Bryn Mawr won the fifth set 15-11.

First-year Zara Kepler had a strong showing in her first collegiate career start. Kepler earned 16 digs, 11 kills, and three aces throughout the match. She tallied her 11th kill as she earned the 14th point the fifth and final set of the game.
