Rowing Places Second at MARC Championships

WEST WINDSOR, NJ – The Bryn Mawr rowing team competed in the Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference earlier Sunday, to place 2nd overall, Bryn Mawr's top team placement in conference history. In the Women's Varsity 8, Bryn Mawr placed 2nd behind Conference winner St. Mary's College. In the Women's 2nd Varsity 8, Bryn Mawr placed 3rd and finished behind Stockton and St. Mary's. 
 
In the Women's Varsity 8, Bryn Mawr raced in a heat for lanes in the morning and placed first by less than a tenth of a second to win the top place going into the final. In the afternoon, the Varsity 8 raced in the Grand Final. The Owls fought Stockton and St. Mary's down the course with tight racing and placed 2nd behind St. Mary's by 2.68 seconds.

In the Women's 2nd Varsity 8, Bryn Mawr raced in a straight final against Stockton University, St. Mary's 2v and 3v, and Washington College. The Owls started off the line with a powerful connection, something they've worked on the whole season. Holding strong through the halfway point, Bryn Mawr kept with the field, relying on good swing technique and their strength training. This race was a culmination of effort over the course of the season and showed their trust in the process of competition and in each other. They placed 3rd overall in the 2v category to contribute to Bryn Mawr's total team points! 
 
Women's 2nd Varsity 8 The Owls will conclude their spring season on the Cooper River in NJ at the Dad Vail Regatta on May 10-11th.
