Tennis Falls to Dickinson in Close Conference Match

BRYN MAWR, PA – The Bryn Mawr tennis team welcomed the Red Devils of Dickinson to campus earlier Saturday as the Owls continued their Centennial Conference play. The day came down to a one-point difference as Dickinson went home with the win, 5-4.

Highlights:
  • Bryn Mawr won the first match of the day at the top doubles spot as partners Sophie Fenster and Fernanda Hurtado Mariscal only allowed their opponents two games (8-2).
  • Dickinson won the next two doubles matches for a 2-1 lead to enter singles.
  • Hurtado Mariscal won her second win of the day at No. 5 singles (6-2, 6-1) to tie up the score 2-2.
  • The Red Devils won the next two matches to take the lead once again. However, the Owls tied the day for a second time as Lowrey West and Kelli Eng won their matches at No. 3 (7-5, 6-3) and 4 (7-6, 6-2) respectively.
  • Kelly Cole remained the last Owl on court at No. 6 singles. Cole battled in the first set to take her opponent into a tiebreak, but the Red Devil managed to win the match in two sets.
The Owls will travel to Gettysburg next Wednesday for another conference match-up.
