GETTYSBURG, PA – The Bryn Mawr swim team was back in action on Saturday for the second and final day of the Gettysburg Invitational, and it was once again a strong showing from the Owls amongst a highly competitive field of five other institutions from around the region as multiple Owls stamped their names in the Bryn Mawr Top-10 record book.
Morning Session Highlights:
- The Owls opened the morning session by finishing ninth in the 200 yard medley relay. The quartet of Shelby Jackson, Maddie Sullivan, Jane Farrell, and Ellie Berry finished in 1:53.46 for the fifth fastest time in program history.
- The first individual event of the day was the 400 yard individual medley, where Ella Cohn (4:57.81) stamped her name in the record books with the ninth fastest time in program history. Felicia Pursner (5:09.54) and Lexi Mireider (5:36.01) each recorded a personal record (PR) in the event.
- Farrell's hot streak continued in the 100 butterfly with a fifth place finish. The junior's time of 58:80 was a PR and moved her up in the Top-10 fastest times in school history for a second place tie with Rebecca Craig from 2016.
- Senior Sullivan also recorded a PR in the 100 yard breaststroke. Similar to Farrell, Sullivan's time of 1:10.09 moved her up in the Top-10 fastest times in program history for the fourth fastest time.
- Kayla Bass (1:09.17), Camille Heynen (1:10.04), and Anna Roumiantsev (1:15.95) each competed in the 100 yard breaststroke with Heynen recording a PR.
- Bryn Mawr rounded out the morning session in the 800 yard freestyle relay. The quartets of Cohn, Farrell, Berry, and Jackson placed fifth with a time of 8:19.42, while Mina Rothberg, Sullivan, Pursner, and Samantha Ings recorded a time of 8:45.60. Both of their times earned them a spot in the Top-10 fastest times in program history.
Evening Session Highlights:
- The evening session opened with the 1650 yard freestyle with four Owls competing in the event. Ings (19:20.31) led Bryn Mawr with a seventh place finish. She was followed by Pursner (19:40.09), Mireider (20:39.30), and Shoshana Peck (21:41.04). Pursner, Mireider, and Peck each recorded PRs while the latter two debuted in the event.
- Emma Rideout-Mann (2:36.26) paced Bryn Mawr in the 200 yard backstroke. She was followed by Heynen (2:37.88) who debuted in the event and Peck (2:49.28) who recorded a PR.
- Sullivan's impressive day continued as she recorded another PR in the 200 yard breaststroke. Her time of 2:33.78 bumped her from the fifth fastest time to the fourth fastest in program history. Berry also recorded a PR in the event with a time of 2:38.60.
- Jackson recorded a Top-10 fastest time in program history as she finished seventh in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:17.04. Cohn finished right behind in eighth with a PR of 2:17.49.
- Bryn Mawr closed the meet in the 400 yard freestyle relay. The crew of Cohn, Rothberg, Pursner, and Ibrahim recorded a time of 4:01.36 for the sixth fastest time in program history.
The swim team will return in the new year for a tri-meet in Dallas, PA against Misericordia University and King's College on Friday, January 17
